Brief

Beyond Borders is an annual global publication about the biotechnology industry. This content driven publication is heavily quoted by the media so it is a high visibility product from the firm.

Role

I am responsible for art direction, design, and layout of the publication. I have been lead designer for his publication for the past five issues. For this special 20th anniversary edition, I designed a removable poster that displayed all the previous issues, highlighted trends, and events from the past decades. This issue also came with a belly band.

Result

The publication was offset printed on a web press. The cover printed six colors plus a flood gloss varnish. Pages and the poster printed four-color process. The poster was inserted in between signatures and had a micro perforation along the page so the poster can be removed. The publication is 96 pages, plus cover plus the poster insert. Pages are 8.5” by 11”, and the poster is 11” by 33” using a double parallel fold. The belly band was designed to be easily removed. This printed one color with a gloss varnish, was folded around the booklet and sealed with an adhesive clear dot.
